Headliner: Dexter and The Moonrocks
Openers: Red Leather, Cigarettes @ Sunset
I can't possibly understate the flat our amazing show these guys put on. The openers were some of the best bands they could have picked for this show.
Red Leather started out posting covers to tiktok while getting clean and started making his own music. This guy knows how to do social media, he did a stunt smashing guitars in Universals parking lot till they signed him and when they presented him with a contract, he burned it and release his single independent. The guy has an amazing voice and style that is utterly unique to him. If you haven't I highly suggest giving his song SINS or BONNIE AND CLYDE a listen.
Cigarettes @ Sunset couldn't be a more appropriate name for this band. They started out in North Carolina in 2021, so they are fairly new to the stage but with the way they perform you would never know it. The way a cigarette during a sunset feels is exactly how this band sounds. This band is a perfect mix of country and punk with a splash of violin. I don't know how i grew up out in the sticks without having a band like this to listen to. It scratches the itch that only the raw feeling of punk can provide but still has the same feeling that makes county still feels like home. All those summer evenings spent looking over and driving past those fields with the need for something that felt a bit more raw... This band truly stole the show as far as I am concerned. And for that they will be played at the 4th of July party at full volume with a bear in one hand while i lose yet another corn-hole tournament...
Anyway....On to the main act. Dexter and The Moonrocks they were.......FUCKING AWESOME! These guys really know how to do whatever it is they do to make use all go nuts! I swear there is just something about them that makes you truly get into the moment. I think what really does it is their ability to build the PERFECT setlist. Opening with Space Invader and straight into Messed Up Kid (Tyler Childers cover) really set the mood for now this night was going to finish out, and it was looking great. And it wasn't just the start of their show either but how they ended the night with a three song encore: Sad in Carolina, Ritalin, and Couch. To end on those three was a damn near ethereal experience. I will never miss an opportunity to see this band. And I thank you guys for staying after to sign all our merch!!!
PS. Sorry Cigaretts @ Sunset I ahhh....was feeling it a bit to much and forgot to take any pictures......And thanks for the autographs!!!
And as always Spotify links to these amazing artists....
